Rolling out energy hubs for mobility requires a lot of work

To combat grid congestion, energy hubs are solutions to deal smartly with local energy needs and generation. Especially in the logistics sector, a switch from fossil to electric-powered transport requires a massive expansion of the charging infrastructure. Like other sectors in the energy transition, this will require many specialized tradesmen. The question is what activities are involved in setting up an energy hub, which people are involved and what innovations can ensure that these people can be optimally employed. Barnebies answers these questions for the National Charging Infrastructure Knowledge Platform in the Charging Energy Hubs (CEH) project. Our mission:

  • Design a human capital impact analysis to systematically identify the efforts needed for Charging Energy Hubs;
  • Organize at least 2 workshops with internal partners and relevant industry parties to identify labor-saving measures;
  • Assess the potential of labor-saving measures in other energy hub initiatives;
  • Organize 3 hackatons/workshops throughout the project, incorporating Human Capital aspects into innovations around charging infrastructure and/or energy hubs.

What do we do?

  • For the impact analysis, we use reports delivered within the framework of the energy transition and apply them to CEH.
  • We regularly interview stakeholders both inside and outside the consortium and stay up to date on the latest knowledge.
  • We develop an approach to better map human capital – not only specific to the CEH project, but broadly applicable.

We perform these tasks for the National Charging Infrastructure Knowledge Platform, from whom we assume substantive responsibility for their participation in Charging Energy Hubs.
